“The Pride of a Prosperous Nation – She Leads the Way”
Love and compassion that sustain the world, as well as the unseen strength behind a nation’s economy and development, are embodied by women. She is not merely a homemaker, but a courageous daughter of the nation who guides its progress and development.
In recognition of the immeasurable value of women and their creative contributions to society, the Warakapola Divisional Secretariat, together with the Regional Women’s Council, organized an International Women’s Day Celebration Programme, which was held with great success and dignity on 24 March 2026 at the Divisional Secretariat Conference Hall.
This special event, organized entirely by women’s societies without any government funding, was attended by Hon. Attorney-at-Law Sagarika Athawuda, Member of Parliament for the Kegalle District and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Women and Children, Hon. Manoj Rajapaksa, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Coordinating Committee, Mr. Rangana Sajeeva, Divisional Secretary of Warakapola, Mrs. Shashika Koralage, Assistant Divisional Secretary, senior officers of the Divisional Secretariat, Women Development Officers, and representatives of the Regional Women’s Council.
The programme was organized to recognize and appreciate the talents and achievements of women entrepreneurs who contribute tirelessly to the nation’s development. The event featured a vibrant exhibition and sales fair showcasing locally produced goods, along with a variety of cultural performances, including traditional dances, songs, and musical presentations by members of women’s organizations.
