Ramadan Celebration of Unity and Coexistence

“Ramadan is not merely a period of fasting; it is a celebration that teaches the world the values of patience, sacrifice, and mutual respect.”

With the aim of promoting religious harmony and social cohesion, the Cultural Affairs Unit of the Warakapola Divisional Secretariat recently organized a Ramadan Celebration Programme, which was held in a grand and meaningful

manner.

The event was conducted under the patronage of Warakapola Divisional Secretary Mr. Rangana Sajeeva, with the participation of the Assistant Divisional Secretary and other senior officers of the Divisional Secretariat. Special guests included Mr. M. Akram, the Warakapola Division representative of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, and the Principal of Babul Hasan Central College.

The celebration was attended by a large gathering of Daham School principals, teachers, parents, and students from the Warakapola Division. The programme was enriched by a variety of performances presented by the students, including traditional dances, songs, and musical items, adding color and vibrancy to the occasion.

The event provided an opportunity to share the message and values of Ramadan among all participants, further strengthening the spirit of coexistence, understanding, and mutual respect among different communities. It also served as a reminder of the importance of fostering harmony and unity within our diverse society.

Through programmes such as this, we hope to continue strengthening inter-ethnic and inter-religious coexistence and further nurture the bonds of friendship, understanding, and peace within our communities.
