Buddhist Devotional Songs Program Held to Mark Vesak Poya Day
To commemorate the sacred Vesak Poya Day, which is celebrated in remembrance of the Triple Blessed Events (Themagula) of the Supreme Buddha, a Buddhist devotional songs program was held on 16 May 2025 at the Parakum Open-Air Theatre of the Warakapola Divisional Secretariat, under the patronage of Divisional Secretary Mr. Rangana Sajeeva.
The program was organized by the Cultural Affairs Unit of the office with the support of other officers. Buddhist devotional songs were presented by representatives of the Cultural Council, Elders’ Council, Village Development Council, Mangedara Mahinda Dhamma School, officers of the Divisional Secretariat, and the Samurdhi Division.
In parallel with the devotional songs program, officers attached to the Grama Niladhari divisions together with the Cultural Affairs Unit organized a dansala, offering boiled chickpeas and coffee to participants and visitors.
